Martina Navratilova is one of the greatest players ever to step onto a tennis court. Even as she's pushing 50, she's able to compete against women many years younger. She came out of retirement to play doubles in 2000 and was back on the court and in better shape than ever. On her way to retirement in September, she picked up some grand slam titles and capped off her career by winning her 59th title by winning the mixed doubles final at the U.S. Open.
These days, Navratilova is inspiring awe not only for her tennis, but for her amazing physical condition. She shares her diet and fitness secrets in her book called "Shape Your Self." "I was asked so many times by friends and media, how do I do it. And I realized I knew a lot more than I thought I did, and I really wanted to share and help people with that knowledge," she told co-anchor Harry Smith on the CBS program, The Early Show. "I've lived this for close to 30 years." Aside from looking great and feeling great, Navratilova continues to help many charitable organizations and claims that she wants to help every cause that she feels emotionally connected to. ``Come to think of it, I feel emotionally connected to all of them,'' Martina says.
``I'll keep pretty busy. It's not exactly putting my feet up. So like Billie Jean (King) says, I might just be getting started.'' ``A lot of people are after me to go into politics because I've been certainly speaking my mind for the last 20 years on that. Who knows what the wind will blow in. I'll stay pretty busy.'' - Martina Navratilova addressing her life after retiring tennis in September after capping her 59th title at the U.S. Open
